Hand and Foot

I love playing games! However, I do have one game that I love playing more than any other, and that is Hand and Foot. For those of you who do not know what this game is, you must find out.

When I was probably in the fourth grade (hehe), my Grandpa and Grandma Houston taught me how to play. I am not kidding my mom and I would visit them several times a week and play cards (H&F) FOREVER. This is one of my favorite memories with my Grandparents. I learned many things from my Grandpa like how to cheat, how to sulk if I lost, what a nasty one is, and lastly that it is never my fault if my team loses :) I also learned from my Granny that I was, "slower than tar going up a hill on a cold winters day!" hahahaha This quote has taught me to stay on my toes during the game, and not take too long on my turn. It is one of my favorites.

I always thought that this was my families game and that not many others knew about it, boy was I wrong. My best friend Lizzie and her hubby play it, my "kinda boy toy" and his family play, as well as my other Grandparents. Every time that I meet someone who plays this game I feel an instant connection to them and know that they are legit. After all, only the greatest know about it :)

Anyway, I have just been playing this game so much with my family, friends, and Jordan's family that I just had to give the game a little shout out :) It is definitely on the top of my game list!

Grateful

This last weekend was a bit of a crazy one. On Thursday night my Aunt Lisa was not feeling well. She went to the doctor and they ran some tests on her. It was determined that she needed to be life flighted up to the Huntsman Caner Institute diagnose what she had. After running a few more test is was determined that she has Leukemia. Obviously, this is not the news our family wanted to here. It has been a bit of an emotional roller coaster for us. Although it is Leukemia, it is the type that she can still live a long life with. We are so GRATEFUL for this.
For those of you who know my Aunt Lisa, you know that she has already been through different type of cancer battle before, so to hear that she is going to have to go through it again is a little disheartening. But as we learned before, our family is going to blessed for it. The last time that she had cancer was a huge turning point for my Dad, and was a big motivator for him to come back to the Lord and the Gospel. I remember talking to my Aunt Lisa about it, and she said she would go through it all again and that it was all worth it, to help bring my Dad back. I LOVE and ADMIRE her so much for this. My Aunt Lisa is an amazing example to me and how I would like to be. Honestly, she is one of the most giving, loving, positive, and accepting person that I know. I love her.
This past weekend also reminded me what a great family that I have. I am so grateful that the Given side of my family has such a close relationship with each other. I don't feel like a lot of families have that, and I am so lucky too. My Dad, Grandparents, cousins, and Aunts were all up here to support my Aunt. Our family seriously gives sooo much love and support to each other that I know we will always be taken care of. I think the hospital thought we were crazy because there were so many of us, and we were laughing and giggling probably a little too much. But that is what makes us happy :) We even got kicked out one night for being too loud! haha!
I honestly hope that everyone will take a second to tell your loved ones how much you love them, as cliche as that sounds, because it truly does make a difference.

Oh how foolish I was...

Today, while shaving my beasty legs, I had a flashback to the first time I was allowed to start shaving. This is the memory.

I was in the fourth grade and begged my Ma everyday to be able to shave my legs, after all if my sister Shalie who was then in the 6th grade was doing it, then I should be able to as well. Ma did not buy it and would always reject my request.

However, one evening my lil' sister Lacy was enjoying her bathtub a little too much and pooped in it! Hahaha, she was still in the potty training days. I guess my Ma REALLY did not want to clean it because she then made me the offer of a life time, "If you go clean Lacy's poop out of the bathtub, then I will let you shave your legs!" Of course, I jumped right on that! Little did I know then that I was making the biggest commitment in my life!

So I cleaned that mess right up, and then began shaving my legs. I remember feeling so cool and adult the next day at school, I made sure that every other girl was jealous of my super silky legs :)

I love thinking about my firsts of life, and this is definitley a good one!

OK, OK, OK, I know it has been forever!!!

Almost a year has gone by since I did my last post, but I am really going to keep up with it this time. I recently deleted my facebook :( I spent WAY to much time on it, and decided I should spend my time doing more useful things. However, I still feel like I needed a place to write down my thoughts, so here I am! I am just going to give a quick update. I am living in SLC right now going to the U. This semester has kicked my butt, but I am always grateful that I am in school :) I am living with 5 other girls at the moment and we always are doing crazy, weird, girl things. Dating life right now is whatever. I have been dating this boy for the last 4 months, but it is fading out. I am sooo sad because I actually liked this one. I wish I could be over it already, but what can you do? Winter is killing me, I am always freezing and wishing I had a snuggie. I really want to try snowboarding this season, I just need someone to come with because we all know I will fall on my booty a lot. So pretty much this post is just to get me going again. I am going to try and do a post a day. Wish me luck!

Granny is mad....

Well if any of you are still looking at my blog, which I never update, my granny left me a comment to get my booty in gear.  So here is a little up date of my life.  In no particular order.

At the beginning of the semester I moved into a new house with some new girls.  I love my new roomies!  They are such good girls and we always have a good time together.  Believe it or not, it is never dramatic.  I love it!

At my work party I won Jazz tickets!  The reason that I was SO excited to win tickets is because I knew my Dad would be stoked.  He is like a little boy when it comes to the Jazz.  In January he came up and we went to the Jazz vs Pacers.  Of course we won :)  We had such a good time!  We went to Gateway with Shalie and Ella, and had dinner at The Other Place, and were off to the game.  I love my Dad so much and am so glad that I got to spend the evening with him!

My friend Mele and I both have flying benefits so this last weekend we went to Hawaii.  It was so nice!  We laid on the beach, ate TONS of food (I literally gained 7 pounds in 2 days), and went on a boat ride.  I now look like a tomato, with blisters :(  It was totally worth it though!  Mele is so fun to travel with cause she always keeps me laughing.
